Boilermaker (Fixed-term)

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Boilermaker on a fixed‑term basis to assemble, install and repair steel structures. The role involves interpreting technical drawings, cutting, bending and welding metal components, and ensuring safe handling of heavy equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings and sketches to determine dimensions and markings.
• Cut and shape materials using oxy‑acetylene torches, plasma torches, angle grinders, band saws, pipe cutters and other cutting tools.
• Prepare pipes and plates by rolling, bending, chamfering, drilling and punching.
• Assemble components through manual arc welding and bolting.
• Fabricate, repair and maintain steel structures in compliance with health, safety and quality standards.
• Operate lifting machinery such as overhead cranes, chain blocks, slings and spreader beams safely.

Required profile

• Namibian citizen.
• Grade 12 or equivalent; Red Seal Boilermaker certification preferred.
• Ability to work physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects and working at heights or in confined spaces.

Required skills

• Oxy‑acetylene and plasma cutting.
• Operation of angle grinders, band saws, pipe cutters and guillotines.
• Manual arc welding and bolting.
• Use of hand tools, portable power tools and pneumatic tools.
• Pipe and plate bending (manual and hydraulic).
• Operation of overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
