Construction Superintendent – SMPP

About the role

We are seeking a Construction Superintendent to lead on‑site activities for the SMPP project. Acting as the Company’s field representative, you will coordinate manpower, ensure compliance with contract requirements and maintain a safe working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Review and confirm the site Man Power Plan (MPP) with construction management to ensure resource adequacy.
• Organise, administer and control construction activities in line with company and client requirements.
• Maintain effective communication between colleagues, contractors and the client.
• Promote health and safety, ensuring strict adherence to the OHSA Act and HSE policies.
• Verify that contractors follow the latest Approved for Construction (AFC) drawings, specifications, QCPs and procedures.
• Submit accurate Daily Diaries and verify contractors’ diaries.
• Review contractors’ method statements and risk assessments.
• Attend and facilitate daily construction interface meetings with the Wood South Africa Construction Manager, contractors and the client.
• Monitor project schedule weekly and provide feedback to the Project Planner.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of contract requirements, policies and construction procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to manage HSE compliance and enforce safety regulations on site.
• Experience in supervising construction teams and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
• Proven capability to review technical documents, method statements and risk assessments.
• Ability to maintain security and protect public, client and company assets.
