Senior SMPP Engineer for Gold Project

About the role

The Senior SMPP Engineer will provide senior technical oversight across structural, mechanical, piping and platework activities for the Kokoseb Gold Project in Namibia. The role covers the full project lifecycle from engineering through to commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight of structural, mechanical, piping and platework scope, reviewing designs, drawings, specifications and vendor documentation.
• Oversee installation, fabrication and erection of mechanical equipment, structural steel, piping and platework, ensuring compliance with quality standards, welding, NDT and dimensional control.
• Support procurement, technical bid evaluations and assess vendor and contractor submissions.
• Manage interfaces between SMPP and civil, process, electrical, instrumentation and commissioning disciplines.
• Identify and resolve technical, quality, constructability, cost and schedule risks, and support mechanical completion, commissioning and final handover.

Required profile

• Recognised engineering qualification in Mechanical, Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer registration or eligibility is advantageous.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant SMPP engineering and project experience, preferably in mining, mineral processing or heavy industrial capital projects.
• Experience across engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning and project handover.

Required skills

• Strong practical experience with process plant equipment, structural steel, piping and platework.
• Knowledge of fabrication, welding, NDT, mechanical installation, quality control and applicable engineering standards.
• Experience working with EPC/EPCM contractors, fabricators, construction contractors and equipment vendors.
