Senior Mechanical Engineer – Mining Projects & Equipment

About the role

The successful candidate will provide senior mechanical engineering oversight across the full project lifecycle for the Kokoseb Gold Project in Namibia, representing the Owner’s interests and ensuring designs, equipment and systems meet technical, quality, safety, cost and schedule standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, specifications and equipment selections for crushers, mills, conveyors, pumps, piping, tanks, thickeners and filters.
• Support procurement through technical specifications, tender evaluations, vendor reviews, equipment inspections and Factory Acceptance Testing.
• Monitor construction and installation to ensure compliance with approved designs and quality requirements.
• Oversee site inspections, equipment alignment, testing, mechanical completion and defect resolution.
• Assist pre‑commissioning, commissioning, performance testing, hand‑over and close‑out of mechanical systems.
• Track mechanical scope, schedule, cost, technical risks and variations in conjunction with Project Controls.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc/BTech/Degree in Mechanical Engineering with professional registration or eligibility.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in major mining, mineral processing or heavy industrial capital projects.
• Proven experience in an Owner’s team, EPC/EPCM or engineering consultancy environment covering full project lifecycle.
• Strong knowledge of mining/process‑plant mechanical equipment and systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage contractors, stakeholders and technical risks in a remote site environment.
