Procurement and Contract Specialist – Mining Project

About the role

The client is seeking an experienced Procurement and Contract Specialist to lead procurement and contracting activities for a major greenfield gold mining development in Namibia. The role covers the full project lifecycle from engineering through construction and commissioning, ensuring cost‑effective sourcing, contractual compliance and robust governance.

Key responsibilities

• Execute procurement and contracting activities in line with approved procedures and develop procurement plans, tender schedules and contract registers.
• Coordinate sourcing, tender preparation, supplier enquiries, evaluate bids, negotiate commercially and recommend awards.
• Prepare purchase orders, contracts, amendments and related commercial documentation, and administer contracts throughout the project.
• Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, contractual compliance, and review payment applications and invoices.
• Identify and mitigate procurement, contractual and supply‑chain risks and ensure compliance with governance and delegated authority.
• Manage contract close‑out, final accounts, warranties and outstanding claims.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Law or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of procurement, contracts and commercial experience on major mining, infrastructure or heavy‑industrial capital projects.
• Experience within an Owner’s Team, EPC, EPCM or major contractor environment.
• Proven track record in tendering, contract negotiation, administration and claims management.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, payment terms, warranties and contractual obligations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement or contract management systems.
• Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and Namibian procurement regulations (advantageous).
