Manager Trading

About the role

The Manager Trading will lead NamPower's Energy Trading Division, shaping strategic sourcing of reliable, sustainable, and cost‑effective energy across national and regional markets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Energy Trading Division for efficient, reliable, and cost‑effective energy procurement.
• Develop and implement trading strategies, business plans, policies, and standards aligned with NamPower’s objectives.
• Oversee negotiation, management, and compliance of energy trading and supply contracts.
• Identify new trading opportunities and optimise participation in regional and short‑term energy markets.
• Manage divisional budgets, financial performance, revenue forecasts, expenditure, and asset replacement.
• Monitor energy markets and advise on pricing, tariffs, supply risks, and trading opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with governance, regulatory, licensing, procurement, and contractual requirements.
• Build strategic relationships with trading partners, regulators, government, and regional stakeholders.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (NQF level 9).
• Eight (8) years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering or Energy Trading.
• Five (5) years of supervisory experience in Energy Trading.
• SAPP Trading Certificate.
