MMU Operator – Explosives Mixer‑Placer Truck Driver

About the role

The MMU Operator is responsible for loading holes with explosive products using a mixer‑placer truck, following BME standards. The role includes daily truck inspection, maintenance, and safe operation in mining environments. The operator ensures vehicle safety, quality control, and proper documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑use inspections and complete checklists before each shift.
• Perform immediate corrections for any red‑category defects; address blue‑category issues on‑site or report within 24 hours.
• Obtain signatures from foreman and mechanic on inspection checklists before leaving the site.
• Calibrate truck instrumentation and sample scales (Samson) monthly and daily respectively.
• Keep the truck clean and presentable; perform weekly greasing and sign‑off.
• Complete daily truck performance administration and file weekly records.
• Safely drive the truck in all weather and road conditions to transport explosives to blasting sites.
• Ensure all required legal paperwork (manufacturing permits, CTP, TTP, tremcards) is on board.
• Supervise the loading of explosives at silos together with the Truck Assistant.

Required profile

• Grade 12 education.
• Valid Code CE driving licence.
• Certificate of Conduct (Police).
• Minimum 3 years of truck driving experience, preferably in a mining environment.
• At least 5 years of experience operating heavy‑duty vehicles (CE category).
