Project Controls Manager – Major Greenfield Gold Mine

About the role

The leading gold mining project in Namibia is seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to lead the planning, cost, schedule and risk functions across the full project lifecycle, from execution readiness through construction to first production.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an integrated Project Controls Management Plan, including governance frameworks, standards and procedures.
• Lead the creation, upkeep and administration of the integrated master schedule using Primavera P6, consolidating inputs from engineering, procurement, contractors and commissioning teams.
• Monitor project performance against baselines, produce monthly cost reports, cash‑flow forecasts, EAC assessments and variance analyses.
• Drive change management, risk and trend management processes, ensuring early identification and escalation of impacts.
• Provide regular performance dashboards and executive reports to the Project Director and senior leadership.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Finance, Cost Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of project controls experience on large capital projects, preferably in mining or heavy‑industrial sectors.
• Proven senior leadership experience within an Owner’s team, EPC, EPCM or major contractor environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary project controls teams in a remote, multicultural setting.

Required skills

• Extensive use of Primavera P6 for integrated master scheduling.
• Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and critical‑path analysis.
• Experience with cost control, budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting and Estimate at Completion (EAC) modelling.
• Familiarity with Power BI or similar reporting tools for dashboard creation.
• Solid understanding of project risk management, change control and trend management processes.
