Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Accountant to join our finance team. The role involves managing day‑to‑day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, and supporting month‑end and year‑end processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date accounting records, ensuring all financial transactions are correctly recorded and supported.
• Process creditors and debtors, including invoices, allocations, reconciliations, and outstanding balances.
• Create and maintain purchase orders in line with company procedures and approval requirements.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
• Prepare and reconcile creditors and debtors age analyses, investigating unusual balances.
• Handle VAT and PAYE reconciliations, submissions and supporting schedules, meeting all deadlines.
• Liaise with tax authorities and auditors on VAT, PAYE, payments and related queries.
• Perform month‑end accounting procedures such as journals, accruals, general ledger and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Produce monthly management reports and financial schedules on time.
• Prepare year‑end audit schedules, support auditors and assist in finalising annual financial statements.
• Carry out finance‑related administrative duties and ad‑hoc reporting, including credit applications.

Required profile

• Degree, diploma or related financial qualification, or at least five years of relevant experience.
