Collections Head

About the role

As a senior member of the talent team reporting to the Head of Credit, you will lead the end‑to‑end collections function for the Group. You will shape the collections strategy, drive higher recovery yields and reduce impairments while ensuring alignment with all relevant stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Define, develop and oversee the collections function, setting budgets and targets in line with the Debt Recovery and Collection Strategy.
• Achieve collection and recovery targets while managing costs within the approved budget.
• Apply credit roadmap and debt‑restructuring principles and introduce innovative recovery methods.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring compliance and proactive advice to stakeholders.
• Provide business intelligence and trend analysis to senior executives and the Credit Risk Technical Committee.
• Develop and launch new campaigns or system enhancements for debt recovery.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with end‑users, SMEs, project managers and senior staff.
• Lead the team’s performance planning, skills development, employment equity and culture initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading collections, credit, or debt‑recovery functions at a senior level.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent analytical capability to translate data into actionable insights for senior leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, control costs and drive efficiency in collection campaigns.
• Commitment to compliance, audit requirements and staying current with legislative changes.
