Vessel Agent

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Vessel Agent to manage all port‑call activities for vessels calling at Walvis Bay. The role involves coordinating logistics, ensuring regulatory compliance and delivering cost‑effective services to our maritime clients.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to customs, port and immigration formalities on behalf of vessels.
• Update principals and suppliers on vessel progress and prepare estimated and final disbursements.
• Manage vessel husbandry including crew changes, medical assistance, spare parts and provisioning.
• Ensure smooth vessel turn‑around and report on cargo operations.
• Follow up invoices from suppliers and service providers.
• Secure ISPS clearance, Free Pratique and comply with ISO standards, local and international maritime regulations.
• Maintain relationships with port authorities, terminal operators, service providers and vendors.
• Work flexible hours, including on‑call rotations, to match vessel schedules.

Required profile

• Proven experience in port operations, shipping documentation, customs and ISPS requirements.
• Strong commercial awareness, negotiation and cost‑control abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and the local language.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a suitable vehicle.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple vessel calls.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using shipping or agency software.
