Care Worker – Obstetrics

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a dedicated Care Worker to join its obstetrics unit. You will work closely with nursing staff to ensure safe, high‑quality patient care and support the multidisciplinary team in delivering excellent obstetric services.

Key responsibilities

• Support and assist nursing unit staff in delivering quality patient care within a team approach.
• Identify and report risks in line with hospital policies.
• Contribute to a positive patient experience by assisting nursing staff.
• Provide administrative support to the nursing unit as required.
• Participate in continuous personal development to build staff competence.
• Ensure efficient use of stock and accurate charging.

Required profile

• Appropriate qualification as a Care Worker (essential).
• Grade 12 education (desired).
• Experience in a healthcare environment (essential).
• No specific additional experience required.

Required skills

• Understanding of stock control principles.
• Ability to report and document events/tasks accurately.
• Knowledge of medico‑legal risks.
• Familiarity with administrative tasks.
• Understanding of patient experience and care principles.
• Application of infection prevention and control principles.
