Payroll Manager

About the role

Standard Bank Group is recruiting a Payroll Manager in Windhoek. The role coordinates and tracks activities within People & Culture Operations and supports the Manager in keeping Group minimum standards for effective and efficient operations. It acts as second in command, guiding the team and dividing work, while monitoring and overseeing the execution of People & Culture Operations processes and mitigating operational losses, fines, penalties or reputational damage by complying with all relevant legislation and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Build, develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver excellent customer service.
• Carry out regular quality assurance of the People & Culture Operations team's work, produce QA reports, run trend analysis and implement corrective measures and preventative controls.
• Deliver regulatory and internal reporting requirements, including statistics, dashboards and management information for internal stakeholders and regulators, and submit reports to the Head, P&C Operations.
• Advise stakeholders and act as trusted advisor to line managers, resolving escalated queries about completed work or team behaviour.
• Review existing processes, recommend improvements and help develop new processes or work instructions.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Commerce, Finance and Accounting, Human Resources or a related field.
• 5-7 years of experience, including exposure to regulatory requirements and a track record of implementing control, risk and governance frameworks.
• Thorough understanding of the People and Culture and Payroll environment, and of the HR value chain and its link to payroll.
• Payroll supervisory experience, preferably in a multi-country or shared services environment.
