Construction Supervisor (Mechanical & Structural)

About the role

Wood is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Structural Construction Supervisor to join the Etango Project site team in Namibia. The role represents Wood on‑site, overseeing the contractor’s mechanical and structural activities with a focus on safety, quality, progress and completions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily mechanical and structural construction activities, ensuring work follows approved drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
• Monitor contractor supervision, labour, materials, plant and equipment against schedules and identify constraints, design issues or material shortages early.
• Review and approve method statements, risk assessments, lift plans and inspection/test plans.
• Coordinate with construction management, engineering, HSE, quality, materials, commissioning and other contractors.
• Conduct regular field surveillance, progressive punching and record punch‑list close‑out.
• Maintain daily diaries, progress records and witness inspections or tests as required.

Required profile

• Relevant mechanical, structural, boilermaking, fitting or rigging trade qualification, diploma or degree.
• At least seven years of site construction experience on mining, mineral processing or industrial plant projects.
• Practical construction execution experience with a construction or engineering contractor.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel erection, mechanical equipment installation, platework and material‑handling systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction and equipment drawings, specifications and installation details.
