Care Worker - Relief position

About the role

The Relief Care Worker will join Mediclinic’s nursing unit to provide essential support in delivering safe, high‑quality patient care. Working on a flexible, as‑needed basis, you will assist the nursing team, help maintain a positive patient experience and ensure smooth administrative operations.

Key responsibilities

• Support nursing staff in day‑to‑day patient care activities.
• Identify and report risks in accordance with hospital policies.
• Assist in creating a positive patient experience by responding to patient needs promptly.
• Provide administrative assistance such as documentation and stock management.
• Participate in continuous personal development to enhance competence.
• Ensure efficient use of required stock and accurate charging.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification as a Care Worker.
• Grade 12 education (desired).
• Previous experience in a healthcare environment.

Required skills

• Understanding of stock control principles.
• Ability to report and document events and tasks.
• Knowledge of medico‑legal risks and administrative procedures.
• Familiarity with patient experience and care principles.
• Application of infection prevention and control measures.
