Operations Controller – Transport

About the role

The Operations Controller (Transport) ensures end‑to‑end handling, monitoring and control of shipments, guaranteeing that all activities meet company policies, local legislation and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Open shipment files, allocate numbers, establish landside and transport rates, and verify that line‑invoice rates match buying rates.
• Receive and quality‑check pre‑alert documents for completeness, correctness and validity.
• Capture accurate accruals for each shipment, including demurrage, detention and storage, before invoice receipt.
• Track and trace shipments from indent to proof of delivery and support timely invoice payment.
• Maintain proactive communication with clients, notifying them of arrivals and updating relevant systems.
• Coordinate shipments end‑to‑end, acting as the primary client contact throughout the lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with company regulations, global SOPs and business rules.
• Serve as first point of contact for customs queries and collaborate with subject‑matter experts.
• Drive timely issuance of client invoices in partnership with finance and global service centers.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in Supply Chain and Logistics or equivalent.
• Customs clearance accreditation and freight forwarding certificate.
• At least 3 years of experience in import/export freight forwarding and clearing.
• Strong knowledge of the forwarding industry, Incoterms and customs requirements.
• Familiarity with operational freight forwarding systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
