Operations Assistant – Warehouse & Transport

About the role

The Operations Assistant will coordinate and oversee daily warehouse and transport activities, ensuring high standards of quality, efficiency and customer satisfaction. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role supports the Stores team and helps achieve the company’s operational objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily warehouse tasks, ensuring work is completed accurately and on time.
• Maintain high levels of customer service and satisfaction.
• Organise inventory and storage areas to optimise stock control and space utilisation.
• Receive incoming stock, verify delivery vehicle details and record temperature, seal numbers and registration.
• Allocate picking activities, batch picking slips and supervise forklift drivers.
• Conduct stock takes, complete related administration and maintain HACCP, health & safety records.
• Supervise Stores personnel, assist the Operations Manager and stand in during leave periods.
• Manage overtime, motivate the team and ensure adherence to SOPs and safety standards.
• Operate specialised warehouse equipment when required and handle opening/closing of the facility.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate (additional qualifications a plus).
• Minimum two years’ experience in a similar warehouse or operations role.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and email.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organisational, time‑management and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and handle overtime when needed.
• Professional interpersonal skills and a collaborative team attitude.
• Mature, responsible and capable of taking ownership of tasks.
