Mushroom Cultivator

About the role

The Mushroom Cultivator is a full‑time, on‑site position at Ndaka Mushrooms and Processing Close Corporation in Namibia. You will work directly in the production of fresh organic mushrooms and support the company’s community‑focused growth.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and adjust humidity, temperature and cleanliness in growing rooms daily.
• Prepare substrates and manage spawning, watering and harvesting cycles.
• Sort, grade, and assist with basic processing and packaging of mushroom produce.
• Maintain accurate records of yields, growing conditions and any issues affecting crop quality.
• Follow safety and hygiene procedures and report problems promptly.
• Support short‑term training sessions, demonstrate cultivation techniques and collaborate on improving farm efficiency.

Required profile

• Knowledge of mushroom cultivation or general crop production, including substrate preparation and environmental control.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures, maintain hygiene and safety standards, and handle farm tools and equipment.
• Basic record‑keeping skills, attention to detail and clear reporting abilities.
• Physical capacity to lift, bend, stand for long periods and work in controlled‑environment rooms.
• Willingness to learn, adapt to new techniques and participate in ongoing training.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills in a diverse, inclusive environment.
• Basic literacy and numeracy; prior experience in agriculture, horticulture or mushroom farming is an advantage.
