Senior Hydrogeologist (Namibia)

About the role

Knight Piésold is seeking a technically strong Senior Hydrogeologist to join its Namibia team. The role blends field investigations, numerical modelling, client interaction and project leadership to deliver sustainable groundwater solutions across diverse projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hydrogeological investigations, including field programmes, drilling, aquifer testing, groundwater monitoring, sampling and data analysis.
• Provide technical support for dewatering studies, groundwater impact assessments, water balances, contamination studies and management plans.
• Develop and review conceptual and numerical groundwater models, offering practical solutions to groundwater‑related risks.
• Manage project scopes, budgets, timelines, resources, contractors and technical deliverables.
• Prepare, review and sign off technical reports and specialist studies, ensuring high quality standards.
• Engage with clients, regulators and stakeholders while contributing to proposals, tenders and business development.
• Mentor junior team members, offering technical guidance and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Earth Sciences or a related discipline; Honours or Master’s degree advantageous.
• At least five years of relevant experience in hydrogeology, groundwater consulting or mining hydrogeology.
• Professional registration with SACNASP.
• Proven experience managing and delivering hydrogeological investigations in a consulting environment.
• Strong ability to analyse groundwater and water‑quality data and develop conceptual flow and contaminant migration models.
• Experience in project management and client‑facing technical roles.
• Valid driver’s licence, passport and willingness to travel.

Required skills

• Numerical groundwater flow and contaminant migration modelling (MODFLOW, FeFlow, MineDW).
• Aquifer testing, groundwater and geochemical sampling.
• Data analysis and interpretation of groundwater quality information.
• Preparation of hydrogeological reports and specialist studies.
