Freelance Energy & Regulatory Compliance Lawyer (Pan‑African)

About the role

We are a legal‑tech and compliance AI platform that connects oil and gas companies with qualified legal experts across Africa. As a Freelance Energy & Regulatory Compliance Lawyer you will join a country‑specific network of independent contractors, receiving compliance tasks through our secure dashboard and delivering them on your own schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft and process country‑specific oil and gas licences, permits, local content registrations and environmental authorisations.
• Assess incoming compliance briefs, provide accurate cost and time quotations, and manage the execution of the assigned tasks.
• Ensure all legal documents comply with the current statutes and regulations of your jurisdiction.
• Upload completed work, track milestones and receive payments through the platform’s dashboard.

Required profile

• Active membership in the Bar Association or equivalent legal council of your country.
• LLB, B.L. or comparable law degree.
• 3–5 years of proven experience in corporate law and regulatory compliance within the oil & gas sector of your jurisdiction.
• Direct experience dealing with national energy regulators (e.g., NUPRC, Petroleum Commission, etc.).
• Comfort working as an independent contractor, managing your own pipeline and pricing tasks.

• Legal drafting and document review for energy‑related licences and permits.
• Regulatory research specific to national oil and gas legislation.
