Financial Accountant – Tourism Board

About the role

The Namibia Tourism Board seeks a Financial Accountant to ensure accurate and timely financial recording, reporting and compliance for the tourism regulatory authority. The role is central to managing the organisation's cash utilisation, vendor relationships and statutory reporting, supporting the Board’s financial sustainability and strategic tourism objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date general ledger accounts and process accounts payable and receivable linked to tourism licensing, permits and fees.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with statutory and public‑sector accounting standards.
• Verify vendor invoices, perform two‑ or three‑way matching, schedule payments (check, EFT, wire) and manage early‑payment discounts.
• Conduct regular bank, creditor and inter‑agency reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and implement corrective journal entries.
• Supervise junior finance staff, ensure adherence to procurement policies and support audit readiness.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with experience in public‑sector or government finance.
• Proven ability to supervise finance staff and manage end‑to‑end accounts payable processes.
• Strong knowledge of national financial regulations, procurement laws and internal control frameworks.

• Accounts Payable processing and vendor invoice verification.
• Bank reconciliation and financial reporting.
