Team Leader Surveyor

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a Team Leader Surveyor to oversee a specialist team that supports underwriting and risk assessment across construction, photovoltaic and mining projects in Namibia. The role combines office‑based analysis with field inspections to ensure compliance with building regulations and corporate risk standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage delivery of a specialist surveying team aligned with business objectives.
• Support underwriting by conducting risk assessments during client onboarding.
• Prepare technical reports with risk grading and recommendations for underwriters.
• Lead operational projects within the survey and risk domain.
• Ensure risk strategies align with profitability targets and recommend loss‑prevention measures.
• Conduct site inspections and fieldwork across high‑rise, photovoltaic and mining installations.
• Promote a risk‑aware culture among colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Namibian citizenship.
• Engineering or Surveying qualification at NQF Level 7.
• 2‑5 years of industry experience.
• Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings and apply occupancy codes.
• Strong knowledge of National Building Regulations and municipal ordinances.
• Basic understanding of high‑rise building systems (LV/HV electrical, plumbing, sewer, storm‑water, fire suppression).
• Knowledge of photovoltaic installations and mining operations.
