Site Supervisor - Project Implementation (Transmission)

About the role

NamPower (Pty) Ltd, an equal opportunity employer, is recruiting a Site Supervisor for its Transmission business unit on a 5-year contract, reporting to the Senior Manager. The incumbent provides site supervision during the execution phase of power line, substation and related transmission infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise project construction so that it complies with approved designs, specifications, quality standards and the Transmission Asset Owner's requirements.
• Monitor project progress, support contractors in meeting project objectives and report delays to the Project Manager.
• Review design drawings, verify material deliveries and usage, and manage NamPower-supplied materials and equipment.
• Monitor contractors' quality assurance systems, method statements, site inspections, testing and compliance with contractual requirements.
• Supervise setting-out, soil nominations, excavation, formwork, reinforcement, concrete works, tower erection, tower dressing and stringing operations.
• Verify the quality and quantities of delivered and installed materials against contractual bill items.
• Supervise testing and commissioning, reconcile as-built quantities and keep records of key contractual activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (NQF Level 8) in Civil Engineering.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer-in-Training or Incorporated Engineer-in-Training with the Engineering Council of Namibia.
• Code B driver's licence.
• At least three years of practical experience in civil construction, substations and transmission lines, including at least one year as site agent or supervisor on a project site.

Required skills

• Knowledge of works contracts and project management skills.
• Experience of site lifestyle, travelling and living away for extended periods.
• Computer skills: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Project, CAD software and SAP.
• Report writing, organising and communication skills.
