Senior Ruby Developer (Remote, EU/LatAm/NA)

About the role

Perry Street Software is hiring a Senior Ruby Developer to join its VP of Engineering's team, working remotely from North America, South America or Europe. The role builds a Ruby API that powers a family of LGBTQ+ mobile dating apps. It is a 40-hour-per-week, ongoing full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Build a modern API application on a functional architecture in Ruby, Ruby on Rails and/or Sinatra
• Write well-factored, maintainable and tested code using RSpec, TDD and BDD
• Help advance architectural rules using RubyZen, the company's Ruby architectural linter
• Support AWS infrastructure with tools such as Terraform, and debug production issues in AWS Console, Airbrake, Datadog and CloudWatch
• Maintain a complex backend processing more than 300 million web server requests per day
• Work with, mentor and guide a distributed team; pair programming and screen sharing are expected for at least 4 hours per day

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years with Ruby
• 5+ years of DevOps experience with AWS or equivalent
• Experience shipping a consumer API used by thousands of users
• Availability: EU 11am-8pm CET (winter) or 12pm-9pm CET (summer); Brazil and North America 8am-5pm EST; collaboration possible 9am-1pm EST
• Experience with remote, global teams and openness to pair programming

Required skills

• Preferred: full-stack knowledge (SQL, Linux, React), big data tools (Spark, S3, Redshift), analytics platforms (Mixpanel, Amplitude, Moengage, Quicksight), Docker, Kubernetes, and Python or Scala
