Resident Engineer – Road Construction

About the role

The Resident Engineer will act as the Consultant's on‑site representative, overseeing day‑to‑day supervision and contract administration for a road construction project in Namibia. This role ensures that design intent, project requirements and construction practicality are fully integrated to achieve successful delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Administer site and camp operations, including supervision personnel, laboratory activities, traffic accommodation measures and environmental compliance.
• Review and verify design information, recommend design amendments and serve as the primary liaison among the Engineer’s Head Office, Employer, Contractor, subcontractors, local authorities and community representatives.
• Coordinate, review and certify quantity measurements and payment certificates, manage quality control and financial administration, and issue instructions to the Contractor.
• Maintain documentation, record control systems and as‑built data, measure progress, report on programme adherence and oversee OHS and environmental management plan compliance.

Required profile

• BSc/BEng/BTech or equivalent in Civil Engineering with professional registration by the Engineering Council of Namibia.
• Minimum 10 years post‑graduation experience in civil engineering and construction supervision, including at least two national road projects as Resident Engineer.
• Demonstrated experience in contract administration, quality management and stakeholder coordination.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
