About the role
Old Mutual is seeking a Medical Underwriter to review risk submissions, underwrite insurance requests and support automation of underwriting processes. The role involves working with clients, agents and internal teams to ensure compliance and accurate risk assessment.
Key responsibilities
- Review new business and renewal proposals, provide price quotations and refer complex cases to senior underwriters.
- Support development and validation of automated underwriting systems through research and analysis.
- Monitor risk parameters, report deviations and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Prepare and organise complex documents, gather data for special reports and maintain accurate records in the product administration system.
Required profile
- Namibian citizenship with a Matric qualification in Biology/Life Sciences plus Mathematics or Accounting.
- Relevant tertiary degree or diploma (medical, BSc or BCom) at NQF level 7 or higher.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills; additional African language is a plus.
- Self‑managed, team‑oriented with high accuracy and ability to work under pressure.
Required skills
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Telephony skills for handling customer and intermediary enquiries.
