Employee Relations Specialist

About the role

FirstRand Namibia Group is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to develop and implement employee relations strategies that align with organisational values and labour legislation. You will provide expert guidance on misconduct, grievances, disputes and industrial relations matters, ensuring fairness and legal compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute employee relations strategies that support business objectives.
• Analyse misconduct cases and recommend appropriate disciplinary actions.
• Investigate employee grievances, appeals and industrial relations issues, delivering fair and legally compliant resolutions.
• Chair and participate in disciplinary and grievance hearings, ensuring procedural fairness.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date case database, tracking status, outcomes and risks.
• Identify recurring risks or trends and propose preventative interventions.
• Assess training needs, develop and deliver employee relations training programmes.
• Recommend updates to the Code of Conduct to reflect legislative changes.
• Support the business in minimizing litigation exposure and contribute to dispute settlements.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Labour Relations, Industrial Psychology, Law, Human Resources or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in employee relations, industrial relations or a comparable HR discipline.
