Control Room Operators (Freight Forwarding) – 2 Positions

About the role

Africa Global Logistics Namibia is hiring two Control Room Operators for its freight forwarding operations in Walvis Bay, Namibia. This is a permanent, full-time position focused on monitoring, coordinating and controlling cross-border road freight, keeping truck movements visible in real time and ensuring adherence to routes, schedules and border requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor all trucks in transit using vehicle tracking, telematics and control room systems, tracking them against planned routes, schedules and border crossing requirements.
• Identify and escalate deviations, delays, unauthorised stops or route non-compliance, and keep drivers informed of their status and location.
• Act as first point of contact for drivers during breakdowns, accidents, security threats or emergencies, and coordinate responses with operations, fleet control, security providers and emergency services.
• Monitor high-risk corridors, curfews, border congestion and security alerts, and advise operations proactively.
• Support fleet and road freight controllers with real-time fleet status updates, coordinate border movements and liaise with security providers for escorts when needed.
• Maintain control room logs, tracking reports and incident registers, and give regular operational updates to management.
• Enforce security procedures, comply with cross-border transport regulations and QHSE requirements, and take part in security drills and audits.

Required profile

• Grade 12; a Diploma in Transport Management is an advantage.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar environment.
• A logistics or transport qualification or any relevant qualification.
• Thorough knowledge of local and cross-border transport and logistics.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and client liaison skills.
• Advanced computer skills.
