About the role
The PIR Caseworker provides trauma‑informed services to refugees and qualified immigrants, helping them achieve a successful resettlement and long‑term self‑sufficiency. Working closely with clients, colleagues, and partner agencies, the caseworker designs individualized plans that leverage financial, medical, social, and vocational resources.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate pre‑ and post‑arrival services, including airport pick‑up, housing, food, medical care, transportation, and orientation.
- Conduct intake assessments, develop self‑sufficiency plans and SMART goals in partnership with each client.
- Distribute direct financial assistance, assist with public benefits applications, and refer clients to medical and mental‑health services.
- Maintain regular, meaningful client interactions and monitor progress toward established goals.
- Document all client interactions in the ETO system and support tracking and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external service providers to expand resource networks.
- Travel within the service area using a personal, insured vehicle or public transportation as needed.
- Train and supervise volunteers and interns when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field (preferred).
- Relevant experience in case management, refugee or immigrant services, or a similar humanitarian setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Willingness to travel locally and adapt to varying client needs.
Required skills
- Trauma‑informed care and case management techniques.
- Proficiency with case management software (e.g., ETO).
- Knowledge of public benefits, housing, and health service referral processes.
- Ability to develop SMART goals and individualized service plans.
