Senior Civil Engineer

About the role

Our client seeks an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead geotechnical, tailings and mine infrastructure projects. The role combines technical design, stability analysis, and mentorship while acting as Engineer of Record for critical facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, scheduling and design of tailings storage facilities, return water dams and other mine infrastructure.
• Perform surveillance, annual audits and inspections of TSFs and RWDs.
• Execute and oversee stability, seepage and slope analyses for various residue types.
• Travel to operational sites for field investigations, monitoring and client meetings.
• Prepare proposals, appoint sub‑consultants/sub‑contractors and manage engineering contracts.
• Delegate tasks and develop graduate, junior and intermediate engineers.

Required profile

• Namibian citizenship (mandatory).
• BEng or BSc Eng in Civil Engineering; postgraduate Geotechnical qualification is advantageous.
• Registered with ECN or ECSA, or eligible for imminent registration.
• 5‑7 years of civil engineering experience focused on geotechnical, tailings or mine infrastructure.
• Valid driver’s licence and passport with willingness to travel.

Required skills

• Soil mechanics, water management, site investigations and engineering contracts.
• GeoStudio and Plaxis for stability and seepage modelling.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D for design.
• MS Project or Primavera for project management.
• MS Office suite.
