Resident Engineer – Roads & Highways

About the role

The Resident Engineer will act as the consultant’s on‑site representative for a major road construction project in Namibia. You will lead daily supervision, ensure design intent is met, and coordinate all contract administration activities to deliver the project successfully.

Key responsibilities

• Administer site and camp operations, manage supervision staff, oversee laboratory work, traffic measures and environmental compliance.
• Review and verify design information, recommend amendments, and ensure integration of design intent with construction.
• Serve as primary liaison between head office, employer, contractor, subcontractors, authorities, utilities and community stakeholders.
• Coordinate, review and certify quantity measurements and payment certificates in line with the contract.
• Manage project quality control, financial administration and issue contractor instructions.
• Maintain documentation, record control, up‑to‑date design drawings and instructions.
• Measure, analyse and report construction progress, programme adherence and risk registers.
• Oversee Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and environmental management plan compliance.
• Lead the site supervision team, providing technical guidance to ensure works meet contract, design, specifications and standards.

Required profile

• BSc, BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional registration with the Engineering Council of Namibia (ECN).
• Minimum 10 years post‑graduation experience in civil engineering and construction supervision.
• Experience as Resident Engineer on at least two national road projects.
• Proven experience in contract administration, construction supervision, quality management and stakeholder coordination.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
