About the role
The Research & Development and Quality Control Manager will lead NEO Paints' innovation pipeline and ensure product quality across the entire manufacturing process. This senior position combines strategic product development with rigorous quality oversight to drive market competitiveness and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end new product development from concept through launch, evaluating raw materials and improving formulations.
- Analyse market trends, customer requirements and collaborate with sales, marketing, procurement and production.
- Investigate customer complaints, conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Manage the Quality Control function, develop policies, maintain certifications and coordinate internal/external audits (including SABS).
- Ensure raw‑material traceability, equipment calibration and batch compliance.
- Coach, develop and evaluate the R&D and Quality Control teams, set performance objectives and support talent planning.
- Monitor industry innovations, participate in supplier technical meetings and maintain accurate audit documentation.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in quality management and research & development within paint or related manufacturing.
- Proven leadership and people‑management experience.
- Strong business acumen with basic financial understanding.
Required skills
- Knowledge of paint manufacturing processes and raw‑material chemistry.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- ERP system experience (e.g., Business Central).
- Project management and analytical problem‑solving abilities.
- Root‑cause analysis and continuous‑improvement methodologies.
