Project Quantity Surveyor

About the role

The Project Quantity Surveyor will lead the financial and contractual administration of construction projects at the site level. Acting as the commercial hub of the site office, you will ensure accurate measurement, timely payment certifications and strict budget control to maximise project value and cash flow.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly valuation and progress claims, ensuring compliance with contract terms.
• Maintain internal cost control, produce cost‑recovery (CR) reports and monitor “Actual vs. Allowable” budgets using CCS (Candy) and Buildsmart.
• Manage sub‑contractor commercial relationships, including variation orders, early warnings and liability tracking.
• Audit and document all measurements, variations and payment certificates to satisfy internal and external audit requirements.

Required profile

• B.Sc or B.Tech in Quantity Surveying (mandatory).
• 8‑10 years of experience in civil engineering construction, with at least 5 years on‑site for a large contractor.
• Experience on multi‑disciplinary infrastructure projects (rail, roads, bridges, earthworks) is preferred.
• Professional registration with SACQSP is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Expert use of CCS (Candy) and Buildsmart software.
• Advanced measurement techniques based on Standard Methods of Measurement.
• Working knowledge of FIDIC Red Book and GCC 2015 contracts.
• Strong Excel skills for complex reconciliation spreadsheets and progress S‑curves.
