Funded 6‑month traineeship in Press & Political Section – Namibia

About the role

The EU Delegation to Namibia offers a six‑month funded traineeship within its Press, Political and Information Section. The position focuses on digital communication, media engagement and promoting EU green‑diplomacy initiatives to local audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Delegation’s social‑media channels – planning, drafting, publishing and monitoring content.
• Create digital assets such as graphics and short‑form videos to highlight EU policies, especially the “Trees for Tomorrow” campaign.
• Assist in organising public‑diplomacy and media events, preparing communication materials and providing on‑site coverage.
• Draft press releases, web articles, speeches and talking points.
• Conduct targeted research to ensure communication outputs are relevant to the Namibian context.
• Contribute to EU coordination tasks and political reporting as needed.

Required profile

• University degree (minimum bachelor’s) in Political Science, Communication, Journalism, Media Studies or related field.
• Less than one year of professional experience after graduation.
• Strong writing and storytelling abilities, with fluency in English.
• Good understanding of Namibian society, media landscape and current affairs.
• Interest in environmental and climate‑related issues.
