Senior Hydrogeologist

About the role

SLR is seeking an experienced Senior Hydrogeologist to join its Land and Water Service Line, delivering groundwater services to clients in mining, energy, industry, power and infrastructure across SADC and Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage complex multi‑discipline groundwater projects, ensuring quality, cost‑effectiveness and on‑time delivery.
• Participate in project management activities including proposal preparation, budgeting, reporting and presentations.
• Liaise with project managers, junior staff and external contractors to resolve technical issues.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and regulatory authorities.
• Conduct hydrogeological field work such as borehole siting, hydrocensus, sampling, drilling supervision and test‑pumping.
• Collect, process and analyse hydrogeological, geological and spatial data to produce conceptual models.
• Provide specialist input to environmental assessments and apply numerical models for decision‑making.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to clients, regulators and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology or Earth Sciences.
• 5–10 years of hydrogeology experience, with at least 5 years managing multi‑disciplinary projects in mining, industry or infrastructure.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills for client and stakeholder interaction.
