Project Quantity Surveyor – Site Commercial Lead

About the role

The Site Quantity Surveyor is the commercial heart of the construction site, responsible for financial and contractual administration of large‑scale infrastructure projects. The role ensures accurate measurement, timely interim payment certificates, and strict monitoring of the "Actual vs. Allowable" budget.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly valuations and progress claims, ensuring all variations are captured and billed.
• Manage sub‑contractor commercial relationships, including variation orders, early warnings, and liability tracking.
• Control internal cost reporting and change request (CR) reporting using CCS (Candy) and Buildsmart.
• Maintain an audit trail of measurements and records to satisfy internal leadership and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• B.Sc or B.Tech in Quantity Surveying (mandatory); professional registration with SACQSP is highly desirable.
• 8–10 years total experience in civil engineering construction, with at least 5 years on‑site for a large contractor on multi‑disciplinary infrastructure projects (rail, roads, bridges, earthworks).

Required skills

• Expert‑level proficiency with CCS (Candy) and Buildsmart software.
• Advanced measurement using Standard Methods of Measurement.
• Working knowledge of FIDIC Red Book and GCC 2015 contracts.
• Advanced Excel skills for complex reconciliation spreadsheets and progress S‑curves.
