Resident Engineer - Road Construction Project

About the role

Surbana Jurong is recruiting a Resident Engineer for a road construction project in Namibia, within the Roads and Highways division. The position reports to the Project/Contract Engineer and serves as the Consultant's representative on site, leading day-to-day supervision and contract administration so that design intent, project requirements and practical construction methods are delivered successfully.

Key responsibilities

• Administer the construction site and camp, including supervision personnel, laboratory activities, traffic accommodation measures and environmental compliance.
• Review and verify design information and recommend design amendments where needed.
• Act as the main liaison between the Engineer's Head Office, Employer, Contractor, subcontractors, local authorities, utility owners, community representatives and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate, review and certify quantity measurements and payment certificates under the works contract.
• Manage quality control and financial administration, and issue instructions to the Contractor in line with the contract and specifications.
• Maintain documentation and record control, keeping design drawings and instructions current and available to the Contractor.
• Measure, analyse and report on construction progress and programme adherence.
• Oversee OHS compliance and environmental management plans, and keep Contract Reports, Construction Record Drawings and Materials Completion Data up to date.
• Lead the site supervision team and give technical guidance so works follow the contract, approved designs and standards.

Required profile

• BSc, BEng, BTech or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration with the Engineering Council of Namibia (ECN).
• Minimum 10 years of post-graduation experience in civil engineering and construction supervision.
• At least two national road projects served as Resident Engineer.
• Demonstrated experience in contract administration, construction supervision, quality management and stakeholder coordination.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
