Business Development Manager – Operations (Agribusiness)

About the role

The Business Development Manager – Operations will lead the procurement, warehouse and dispatch functions for a fast‑growing Namibian agribusiness. This hands‑on role bridges supplier relationships, fresh‑produce quality, and efficient distribution to ensure a seamless flow of goods from farm to market.

Key responsibilities

• Source and manage reliable local and regional farmers and suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms and supply volumes.
• Monitor market prices, seasonal availability and supply risks.
• Ensure incoming produce meets required quality standards.
• Oversee warehouse production activities such as washing, trimming, ripening, repacking and value‑added processing.
• Manage stock rotation, inventory control and wastage reduction.
• Coordinate dispatch planning and order accuracy.
• Maintain cold‑chain integrity for temperature‑sensitive produce.
• Lead and supervise warehouse and dispatch teams.
• Ensure food safety, health and safety, and traceability standards are maintained.
• Prepare operational reports on procurement volumes, wastage, supplier performance and cost control.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or a related field.
• 3–5 years’ experience in procurement, production, warehouse operations or operations management within fresh produce, FMCG, retail supply or export environments.
• Proven people‑management and team‑leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of fresh‑produce quality standards, perishability and cold‑chain management.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced operational environment, including early mornings or occasional weekend work during peak periods.
