Systems Administrator Specialist

About the role

FNB is looking for a Systems Administrator Specialist to manage and optimise our enterprise infrastructure, virtualisation platforms and operating environments. You will ensure that systems remain stable, secure and high‑performing to support continuous business operations.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and optimise VMware vSphere environments.
• Monitor system performance and utilisation to prevent service degradation.
• Maintain compliant Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Execute patching, resolve OS incidents and meet SLA targets.
• Achieve defined backup success rates and validate recoverability through regular DR testing.
• Remediate vulnerabilities within defined timelines and apply security patches.
• Provide monitoring coverage for all critical systems and resolve incidents proactively.
• Support container platforms (Kubernetes, Rancher, OpenShift) and resolve platform/application issues.
• Maintain ITSM logging, audit‑ready documentation and deliver L2/3 support.
• Provide standby coverage and stakeholder support as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology.
• 3–5 years of experience in systems administration.
• VMware Certified Professional (e.g., VCP‑DCV) preferred.
• Certifications such as Microsoft Windows Server, RHCSA or other VMware certifications are an advantage.

Required skills

• VMware vSphere administration.

• Linux system administration.
• Experience with backup, monitoring and security tools.
• Knowledge of container platforms (Kubernetes, Rancher, OpenShift).
• ITSM ticketing and documentation.
• Patch management, vulnerability remediation and DR testing.
