Registered Nurse – Medical Unit

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Medical Unit. The role focuses on delivering safe, comprehensive, and high‑quality nursing care while working closely with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Promote a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure all stock and equipment used are accurately charged.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in General Nursing (essential).
• Post‑graduate certificate/diploma in Midwifery or a relevant specialty (desired).
• No prior experience required; 1 year post‑graduate qualification experience is desirable.
• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS) for specialised wards.

Required skills

• Infection prevention and control.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Scientific nursing principles and processes.
• Nursing record keeping and patient assessment skills.
• Computer literacy – Microsoft Office.
• Ability to develop or modify nursing care plans.
• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation.
• Risk identification and nursing procedures.
