Project Quantity Surveyor

About the role

The Site Quantity Surveyor will act as the commercial hub of the construction site, overseeing financial and contractual administration to protect project value and cash flow. You will ensure accurate measurement, timely payment certificates and rigorous sub‑contractor management across multi‑disciplinary infrastructure works.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly valuation and progress claims.
• Control internal costs and produce cost‑recovery (CR) reports.
• Manage sub‑contractor commercial relationships, including variations and early warnings.
• Maintain an audit‑ready measurement record using CCS (Candy) and Buildsmart.
• Monitor “Actual vs. Allowable” budgets and ensure all variations are captured and paid.

Required profile

• B.Sc or B.Tech in Quantity Surveying (mandatory).
• 8‑10 years total experience in civil engineering construction, with at least 5 years on‑site for a large contractor.
• Experience on infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges or earthworks; exposure to AfDB, World Bank or EIB funded works is a plus.
• Professional registration with SACQSP (candidate or professional) is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Expert use of CCS (Candy) and Buildsmart software.
• Advanced measurement techniques and Standard Methods of Measurement.
• Working knowledge of FIDIC Red Book and GCC 2015 contracts.
• Strong Excel skills for complex reconciliation spreadsheets and progress S‑curves.
• Understanding of rate building (labour, plant, material) for variation negotiations.
