Personal Lines Underwriter

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a motivated Personal Lines Underwriter to join its insurance team. The role focuses on underwriting personal insurance policies, ensuring profitable business while delivering high‑quality service to clients.

Key responsibilities

• Retain and grow profitable personal lines business.
• Handle all administrative tasks and written communication related to underwriting.
• Process documentation accurately, ensuring it is issued, checked and authorized before dispatch.
• Maintain service quality and compliance with tactical policies, procedures and standards.
• Resolve escalated customer queries and complaints, providing clear feedback.
• Ensure timely completion of policy renewals.

Required profile

• NQF Level 7 tertiary qualification (degree, advanced diploma or postgraduate certificate).
• 1–2 years of experience in the insurance industry.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
• Client‑oriented, detail‑focused and able to work collaboratively.
• Energetic, embraces OMSIC values and willing to exceed expectations.
