Mechanic – Rental Fleet (4x4 & Camping Vehicles)

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Mechanic to maintain and prepare our self‑drive 4x4 and camping vehicle fleet for rental. The role involves ensuring every vehicle is safe, road‑worthy and ready for customers travelling across Namibia and the region.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine services, inspections and preventative maintenance on the rental fleet.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults, including engine, brakes, suspension, steering and cooling systems.
• Prepare vehicles for rental with pre‑hire and post‑hire inspections, tyre checks and test drives.
• Complete accurate job cards and maintenance records for each vehicle.
• Perform welding, fabrication and repairs on canopies, roof tents and camping equipment.
• Assist with fault‑finding on vehicles returning from cross‑border trips and escalate serious issues.
• Maintain a clean, organised workshop and ensure tools and equipment are in good condition.
• Support the Workshop Manager with parts ordering, stock checks and repair scheduling.
• Be available for after‑hours or weekend call‑outs for breakdowns or urgent repairs.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate and a recognised trade qualification (Motor Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic).
• Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably in a car‑rental, fleet or workshop environment.
• Knowledge of Toyota, Nissan and Suzuki Jimny vehicles is a strong advantage.
• Valid driver’s licence and residence in Windhoek.
• Trustworthy, honest and reliable with strict adherence to company policies.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays and after‑hours call‑outs.
