Funded 6‑month traineeship in EU Delegation, Namibia

About the role

This is a six‑month, fully funded traineeship within the Press, Political and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Namibia. The trainee will support digital communication, media engagement and the promotion of EU green‑diplomacy initiatives, helping to raise the visibility of EU activities among local audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Delegation’s social‑media channels – planning, drafting, publishing and monitoring engagement.
• Create digital content such as graphics and short‑form videos to showcase EU policies, with an emphasis on green diplomacy.
• Assist in organising and covering public‑diplomacy events and media briefings.
• Contribute to communication campaigns, including the “Trees for Tomorrow” green‑diplomacy project.
• Draft press releases, web articles, speeches and talking points.
• Conduct targeted research to ensure communication outputs are relevant to the Namibian context.
• Support EU coordination tasks and political reporting as needed.

Required profile

• University degree (minimum bachelor’s) in Political Science, Communication, Journalism, Media Studies or a related field.
• Strong writing and storytelling abilities, adaptable to different audiences.
• Good understanding of Namibian society, media landscape and current affairs.
• Interest or knowledge of environmental and climate‑related issues.
• Ability to work independently and in a multicultural team.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
• Less than one year of professional experience after graduation.
