Fixed Income Portfolio Manager

About the role

Momentum Investments is looking for a skilled and qualified Fixed Income Portfolio Manager to take end-to-end accountability for the performance, risk and mandate compliance of fixed income portfolios across multiple mandates. The role involves setting and executing portfolio strategy, leading sophisticated investment decisions across yield curves and instruments, and delivering risk-adjusted outcomes aligned with client objectives, the Fixed Income team's investment philosophy and the Momentum Group's strategic objectives. The position is based in Windhoek, Namibia.

Key responsibilities

• Construct and actively manage fixed income portfolios, including asset allocation, security selection, trading, rebalancing and cash management.
• Develop portfolio strategy using research-driven analysis of Namibian, South African and global markets, macroeconomic conditions, monetary policy and credit dynamics.
• Identify investment opportunities and risks, position portfolios tactically and use derivatives where permitted to enhance returns or manage risk.
• Monitor performance, liquidity, diversification and exposures; conduct attribution analysis and ensure compliance with mandates, regulation and governance standards.
• Contribute to investment committees, implement house views and present portfolio positioning, performance and market outlooks to key stakeholders.
• Support client engagement, sales and marketing through senior technical expertise and clear communication of investment strategy and outcomes.
• Mentor colleagues, promote a collaborative high-performance culture and drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Investment Management, Finance, Mathematics, Economics or a related field; an Honours or postgraduate qualification is preferred.
• CFA designation, progress towards CFA or an equivalent professional qualification is strongly advantageous.
• At least 7-10 years' experience in fixed income portfolio management, trading or a related investment role, with accountability for portfolio outcomes.
• Experience at senior investment committee level is advantageous.

Required skills

• Portfolio construction, asset allocation, risk management and performance attribution.
• Strong knowledge of Namibian, South African and global fixed income markets, macroeconomic drivers and the regulatory environment.
