Deputy Country Manager – Upstream Oil & Gas

About the role

The Deputy Country Manager will provide senior in‑country leadership for safe, compliant exploration activities in Namibia’s frontier Walvis Basin. Reporting to the Country Manager, the role supports strategy delivery, operational assurance and risk management across seismic, drilling, logistics and office functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead safe, secure and compliant exploration operations, fostering a strong safety culture.
• Support the country strategy and annual plan, focusing on exploration performance and value creation.
• Identify, manage and escalate political, security, reputational, legal and counter‑party risks.
• Represent the company with government authorities, regulators, national partners and joint‑venture stakeholders.
• Drive local content, supplier development, skills training and community engagement.
• Lead crisis, security and business‑continuity readiness, including emergency response.
• Uphold high standards of ethics, compliance and professional conduct across all interactions.
• Contribute to an effective operating model with clear accountability and integrated team leadership.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in the upstream oil & gas sector.
• Proven track record of leading integrated teams in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Demonstrated safety leadership and HSE performance improvement.
• Experience in new‑country entry, business start‑up or joint‑venture governance and regulatory set‑up.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen.
