Credit Risk Analyst

About the role

The Credit Risk Analyst will help Nedbank Group reduce impairment charges and minimise credit risk by following the credit collections process, while ensuring client satisfaction and retention.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to cost‑saving strategies and adhere to management‑set cost limits.
• Manage client expectations through outbound/inbound calls and SLA compliance.
• Advise clients on credit and application processes, provide product knowledge training, and respond to queries promptly.
• Prepare correspondence for dormant, excess, or arrears accounts and issue facility letters.
• Suggest alternative funding solutions and recommend credit applications or products.
• Mitigate credit risk by downloading and analysing daily excess reports and monthly risk management reports.
• Validate client and security information by requesting updates from internal and external parties.
• Analyse credit applications, assess serviceability and client behaviour, and present full loan write‑ups.
• Maintain acceptable risk levels using risk scorecards and conduct financial analyses (e.g., Excel, Moody’s ratings, Basel Committee ratings).
• Assist with handover/take‑on processes and monitor client portfolios through various banking reports.
• Stay updated on legislation and industry changes through newsletters and training sessions.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting or an equivalent field.
• Minimum three (3) years of banking experience, with at least two (2) years in credit assessment, credit control, or risk management.
• Good understanding of basic credit requirements and client repayment ability assessment.
• Valid police clearance not older than six months.
