Consultant – Digital Information Architect

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is partnering with Switchboard to improve the organization’s online resource library. We are looking for a consultant with expertise in information science or library science to redesign the taxonomy, enhance search functionality, and ensure the content is clean, accurate, and easy to navigate.

Key responsibilities

• Review and revise the overall taxonomy for Switchboard’s online content using information science principles.
• Analyze search data to identify improvements for user search and browsing experience.
• Create and update resource records, ensuring titles, descriptions, subjects, and links are accurate and consistent.
• Retag and clean existing library posts in WordPress to align with the new taxonomy.
• Write documentation and guidelines for the Switchboard team to maintain the taxonomy after the consultancy.
• Deliver a written workplan, analysis conclusions, and completed taxonomy updates as defined in the scope.

Required profile

• Background in information science, library science, or a related field.
• Proven experience designing and managing taxonomies for digital collections.
• Familiarity with WordPress content management.
• Ability to work independently and meet deliverable deadlines.
