Chief Risk and Compliance Officer

About the role

Old Mutual Namibia is looking for a Chief Risk and Compliance Officer to lead risk and compliance across its long-term insurance business. The role ensures the company operates within regulatory boundaries and manages risks that could affect its financial stability, reputation or customer trust. It oversees the implementation of the risk strategy and enterprise risk management disciplines, and monitors, escalates and reports material risks, events and issues.

Key responsibilities

• Align and optimise the risk methodology and risk strategy for the Investment cluster, and drive compliance with the Enterprise Risk Management policy, including oversight of risk identification, controls, key risk indicators, risk events and reporting.
• Manage financial risk, run quarterly Risk Control Self-Assessments, and plan and monitor risk policy adoption and awareness.
• Lead strategic and operational risk assessments, maintain oversight of risk appetite, exposures, tolerances and limits, and oversee business continuity and operational resilience.
• Provide independent oversight of investment and market risk, including portfolio governance, stress testing, valuation and pricing oversight, and breach monitoring.
• Oversee credit, counterparty and model risk, and act as secretariat to the Credit Committee.
• Implement the regulatory compliance framework, manage regulatory affairs and relationships with regulators, and oversee compliance monitoring and testing.
• Ensure AML, CTFP and sanctions policies are embedded and reviewed at least annually, and oversee AML risk assessments.
• Manage Group Internal Audit reviews and provide assurance and reporting to relevant forums.

Required profile

• Namibian citizen.
• B.Com, B.Acc or an equivalent relevant degree.
• 7-10 years' experience in risk management, investment risk, audit and/or compliance, ideally in financial services or investment management, including at least 5 years at management level.
• Relevant financial services certifications preferred.
• Flawless command of English.
