Business Development Manager – Retail

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead retail‑focused growth initiatives. You will partner with marketing, product and operations teams to design, launch and optimise direct‑marketing and lead‑generation campaigns that expand our retail distribution platform.

Key responsibilities

• Consult and advise marketing managers on strategic actions and new business opportunities.
• Design, develop and execute direct‑marketing and lead campaigns.
• Ensure internal systems and processes operate efficiently.
• Lead the marketing, sales and promotion of products in designated retail segments.
• Collaborate with business units to create plans that meet sales and profit targets.
• Oversee market research, product planning and advertising activities.
• Deliver education, training, presentations and proposals to advisers and clients.
• Manage monthly reporting, reconciliation and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Own the retail distribution platform strategy, adviser relationship management and brand positioning.

Required profile

• Honours degree with 6‑8 years of financial or investment experience.
• At least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience in corporate/business relationship management; retail or asset‑management exposure is a plus.
• Excellent communication, presentation and networking abilities.
• Strong technical aptitude and computer literacy.
• Highly motivated, self‑starter, well‑organized and able to work independently.
• Deep understanding of retail adviser business models, client segmentation and portfolio solutions.
